My Approach To Skincare
After experiencing acne at 13 years old, I became interested in skincare. After almost 3 years of research, and clearing my skin, I feel like I’ve discovered my skincare “approach” or “philosophy”.
There were a few things I saw over and over again while I was doing my research on skincare, some of them being myths, while others were facts. The first thing I learned about skincare is that you need to take everything you hear with a grain of salt. This applies to anything and everything in life. If something doesn’t make sense, or seems too good to be true, it probably is. For example, drinking a specific “green smoothie” promoted by an influencer is not going to clear acne. Of course, a good diet will benefit your skin’s health, but adding one green smoothie into your diet will not make a huge difference.
The second thing I learned was, there is no need for fancy $100+ skincare products. In fact, often these products are heavily fragranced, which can damage your skin. If you choose to incorporate some ingredients/treatments into your routine, such as chemical exfoliants, niacinamide, hylauronic acid, etc. or choose to use luxury brands, products will be more expensive. However, you do not need to buy a $200 facial cream because your favourite actress uses it. Usually, you can find great skincare products for under $40 each (and less for some products, like moisturizers).
Finally, you need the right routine. From your habits to the products, your routine has to be right for you! Check out my YouTube video to learn more. If you don’t have time for that, you can get less-detailed and summarized information in this infographic I made.
